One Nation’s comprehensive housing policy focuses on substantially lowering immigration (capping net overseas migration at 130,000) to reduce housing demand, permanently banning foreign ownership of residential property to increase housing supply (a policy now partially copied by the major parties), improving affordability by enabling superannuation funds to invest some of an individual’s super in the individual’s primary residence, and improving affordability by reducing the government taxes, fees, duties and charges that make up to 44% of the cost of a new home. One Nation’s policy also includes exempting building materials from the GST for five years for new homes up to a value of $1 million.
