Statement: “Australians simply can’t afford another three years of Labor. At the next election, it will be time for a change. A change for the better – for you, your family and our country.”
Will your party commit to allowing religious schools and other religious institutions to recruit staff and implement policies which reflect…
A Dutton Coalition Government will support the rights of religious organisations, including faith-based schools when employing staff to preference those who adhere to the beliefs of the religious organisation. The Coalition believes Australians should be free to follow their religion, or lack of religion, without discrimination and that religious schools and bodies should be able to employ staff based on its values. Under a Dutton Coalition Government religious Australians will not go backwards and freedom of religion will remain a cherished right in Australia.
The Coalition have committed that if elected, religious freedoms will not go backwards, that schools and religious bodies should be able to employ staff based on their values, and that freedom of religion will remain a right. This appears to be stronger than Labor in terms of providing or retaining better protections for both Australian Christians individually and for Christian schools.

Will your party commit to protecting free speech in Australia by not introducing laws that will further erode religious freedom…
The Coalition is committed to ensuring that freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom from discrimination, including on the basis of race or religion, are all protected and promoted. Whilst all Australians have a right to express their views, including people with controversial views, they must remain within the framework of Australian law.
A Dutton Coalition Government will continue to oppose moves from the Albanese Labor Party and the Australian Greens to regulate and restrict free speech online.
Whilst the Coalition voted against the Misinformation and Disinformation Bill, they have supported other bills that have implications for what you can and can’t say online. ACL acknowledges the threats that online hate speech poses to the public, however the Coalition have not taken a strong stand against the attempts to silence alternative voices to prevailing ideologies.

Does your party intend to restore the definition of a woman in the Sex Discrimination Act to be based on…
The Coalition recognises that there is significant concern in the Australian community about ensuring that biological women can compete fairly in women’s sports and the need to protect biological womens’ spaces in our community, especially toilets and change rooms.
A Dutton Coalition Government will continue to listen to community views about these very important matters.
The Coalition have acknowledged there is considerable community concern regarding ensuring that biological women can compete fairly in women’s sports and the need to protect biological women’s spaces such as toilets and changerooms, and even though they say they will continue to listen to community views, they have not proposed or committed to any policy changes at this point. The Coalition have indicated that they will freeze any changes to the National Construction Code for ten years, which would prevent current proposals to include ‘all-gender’ toilets.

Does your party support the continuance of the current chaplaincy program in schools? Party Response: A Dutton Coalition Government will…
A Dutton Coalition Government will continue to support school chaplains who do an incredible job in Australian schools supporting students’ wellbeing and mental health and in combating bullying.
The Coalition’s National School Chaplaincy Program supported more than 3,000 school communities with the services of a Chaplain.
The Coalition initially established the National School Chaplaincy Program in 2006, and has indicated a strong commitment to continuing to support School Chaplains and has acknowledged the contribution chaplains have made in Australian schools. They have not indicated that they will restore the program to be Chaplains only if they win Government.

Will your party commit to reviewing the ‘Consent and Respectful Relationships Program’ to ensure gender ideology and all references to…
A key priority of a Dutton Coalition Government will be to combat the scourge of family, domestic and sexual violence. The Coalition supports consent education in schools as part of a broader commitment to student safety, respect, and personal responsibility. Such programs should not seek to push a particular ideological viewpoint.
Schools play a key role in educating our students on important life skills, including consent, together in partnership with parents. We will continue to provide age-appropriate, evidence-based consent education which ensures students receive consistent and clear messaging which does not push a particular ideology. States and territories are responsible for syllabus and program resources.
The Coalition considers the Consent and Respectful Relationships program conducted through schools as an important as part of their priority to combat domestic, sexual and family violence. They have undertaken to ensure that messaging in the program is age-appropriate, evidence-based education, and is not pushing a particular ideology. This may result in the removal of some ideological gender–based content from the current curriculum.

What steps will your party take to ensure the national curriculum does not contain matters that are not factual or…
A Dutton Coalition Government will work with the states and territories, who are responsible for delivering school education, to ensure the Australian Curriculum is a quality education, that teaches the core fundamentals, such as reading, writing, maths and science, is aligned with international best-practice , which reflects the fact that the classroom is for education not indoctrination.
The Coalition’s stated “plan” for Australia includes to deliver a “back-to-basics education” specifically focusing on reading, writing, maths and science. It opposes “indoctrination”, “ideology”, “radical gender theory” being taught in Australian classrooms and/or the curriculum. Although the Coalition’s commitment to reform the curriculum is welcome, it is noted that the current National curriculum was introduced under the Coalition Government in 2022.

Will your party commit to an audit of all Australian Government departments’ DEI policies, guides, and training to ensure they…
Australians expect and deserve a world class public service. To ensure public trust and be effective, it is important that the Australian Public Service remains apolitical and impartial.
A Dutton Coalition Government will be committed to ensuring that public servants and government programmes are efficient and effective in their use of taxpayers’ money to deliver the essential services Australians rely on.
In the latest term of Government, the public service has increased by 36,000 people, in positions including culture, diversity and inclusion advisers, change managers, and internal communication specialists.
These positions do nothing to improve the lives of everyday Australians. We want public servants to focus on their core task – delivering for Australians.
The Coalition have stated that it is important that the Australian Public Service is apolitical and impartial. They have indicated in the media that they will cut culture, diversity and inclusion officers from the public service. They have indicated that it is important that all appointments are selected on merit.

Does your party consider that children and adolescents under 18 years of age should be allowed to take puberty blockers…
The Coalition’s view is that decisions affecting the health and wellbeing of children and young people should be informed by empirical evidence and our health experts, not extreme ideology. The operation of gender dysphoria clinics across Australia is a matter for state and territory governments.
When in government, the Coalition requested expert advice from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians on the treatment of gender dysphoria in children and adolescents. While we welcome the announced review by the National Health and Medical Research Council, Australians don’t yet know the terms of reference or who’s being appointed to conduct the review and it won’t report back until mid-2026. We call on the Albanese Government to release these details.
The Coalition considers decisions affecting health and wellbeing should be informed by empirical evidence and health experts, not extreme ideology. In February 2025 18 Coalition senators voted to support a One Nation motion to establish an inquiry into the human cost of experimental child gender treatments in Australia which did not pass.

Which recommendations of the “Inquiry into online gambling” (the Murphy Inquiry) does your party propose to adopt? Party Response: A…
A Dutton Coalition Government will introduce a ban on sports betting advertising one hour before, during and one hour after the live broadcasting of games. This was a commitment made in the Leader of the Opposition’s Budget in Reply in May 2023, which was followed by the introduction of a corresponding Private Member’s Bill – rejected by Labor and the Greens.
The Coalition continues to carefully consider the other recommendations of the parliamentary report. It has been 21 months since the Coalition sought to take action on this issue, and we’re still waiting for the Albanese Government to work out its response to that parliamentary report.
The Coalition has indicated that they have been waiting for Labor’s response to the Murphy Inquiry. They have committed to introduce a ban on sports betting advertising one hour before, during and one hour after the live broadcasting of games, and introduced a private members bill for this, which was rejected by Labor and the Greens. So far the Coalition’s commitments to date regarding proposed restrictions to online gambling advertising appear stronger than Labor’s position.

Does your party support the introduction of age verification to restrict access to pornography by children under the age of…
Protecting our children from online harm is an extremely important issue for families across Australia. The Coalition introduced the world-leading Online Safety Act laws in 2021 – and we have long supported efforts to protect Australians from online harm. These laws hold companies to account for the safety of their products and services. The Coalition has led the debate on the introduction of an age limit of 16 for children to access social media. The Coalition expects online platforms to be fully compliant with the law, including restricting content such as pornography.
The Coalition introduced Online Safety Act laws in 2021, and led the debate on the introduction of the minimum age limit to access social media to 16. They expect online platforms to comply with the law, including restricting pornography. The Coalition has previously they will introduce age verification to protect children.

What initiatives are your party planning to implement to increase the Australian birth rate and to support parents wishing to…
The Coalition understands that Australia’s declining birth rate poses long-term economic and social challenges. Policies that support family growth, reduce financial pressures, and improve access to housing and services are key to ensuring more Australians feel confident in starting or expanding their families.
A Dutton Coalition Government will fight cost of living pressures, and will take decisive steps to combat the current housing crisis by increasing the supply of housing available to Australians. This includes reducing the Albanese Government’s record pace of migration to a sustainable level and committing $5 billion to a new Housing Infrastructure Programme to unlock up to 500,000 new homes (by providing crucial infrastructure – such as connecting roads, water and sewerage – the lack of which is holding back housing construction).
By getting inflation down, alleviating household cost pressures and boosting the supply of available housing, our standard of living can be restored and Australians can get ahead.
For parents who choose to return to work, the Coalition has previously introduced and supported targeted childcare subsidies to keep out-of-pocket costs low, particularly for low and middle income families. We will continue to drive improvements to ensure child care remains affordable.
However, we also recognise that many parents prefer to care for their children at home and should not be disadvantaged by policies that overly favour formalised child care.
The Coalition respects parents’ desire for more flexibility and choice that is appropriate for their families.
The Coalition has indicated that policies that support family growth, reduce financial pressures and improve access to housing and services are key to addressing Australia’s declining birth rate and the associated economic and social challenges. They propose to address cost of living pressures by increasing housing supply through providing necessary infrastructure to provide up to 500,000 new homes, reducing inflation, and reducing immigration to sustainable levels. The Coalition have introduced and supported childcare subsidies to ensure childcare is affordable, and recognise parents should not be disadvantaged for caring for their children at home.

What steps does your party propose to take to reduce homelessness in Australia? Party Response: A Dutton Coalition Government will…
A Dutton Coalition Government will act immediately to fix the housing crisis, by boosting the supply of new homes across Australia.
We will deliver $5 billion to fund essential infrastructure like water, power and sewerage at housing development sites to unlock up to 500,000 new homes, with 30 per cent invested in regional communities.
And we will reduce migration to sensible levels that our housing supply can handle as well as implement a two-year ban on foreign investors and temporary residents purchasing existing Australian homes.
The Coalition recognises the challenge of housing for the vulnerable.
That’s why we established the Affordable Housing Bond Aggregator to provide low-cost finance to registered community housing providers to deliver more social and affordable dwellings.
A great achievement of the last Coalition Government was the Home Guarantee Scheme which has helped over 200,000 Australians purchase their first home.
We expanded this Scheme to single parent families in recognition that single parents and their children deserve the security of homeownership, and the challenges they face saving a deposit are even harder when you are on a single income with children.
We also recognise that older women are increasingly at risk of homelessness and housing stress due to lower lifetime incomes, relationship breakdown, and the consequences of family and domestic violence. That’s why the Coalition has announced it will extend its new Super Home Buyer Scheme, allowing separated women to access their superannuation to put towards a deposit on their own home to help rebuild their lives.
The Coalition’s stated policy to address the housing crises is to implement a range of reforms to address the current housing shortage and to specifically address the root causes of homelessness (high immigrations, low supply of housing, and high costs of living), including by investing in services such as mental health. The Coalition plans to boost housing supply and address supply constraints to ease the housing shortage include: ‘rebalancing’ immigration, investing in essential infrastructure to facilitate 500,000 new houses. The Coalition have indicated they will ban foreign investors buying existing houses for two years.

Will your party push for an inquiry into the connection between a legalised or decriminalised sex industry and human sex…
The Coalition supports strong action against individuals and groups that engage in sex trafficking, organised crime and sexual slavery. These crimes must be investigated by police and the perpetrators must be prosecuted through our courts.
A Dutton Coalition Government will be prepared to consider the full range of options to support these criminal law enforcement efforts – including inquiries which may help to understand the scale of the problem or develop effective responses – where there is a focus on keeping Australians safe and ensuring perpetrators are brought to justice.
The Coalition has a strong stance against sex trafficking and modern slavery and has introduced some important measures, including the Modern Slavery Act 2018. However, the Coalition does not acknowledge the connection between a liberalised sex industry and human sex trafficking.

Will your party support an inquiry into annual spending on “Closing the Gap”, including an audit of privately controlled entities…
A Dutton Coalition Government will focus on practical action for Indigenous Australians. We want to target and address the significant disadvantage and neglect within regional and remote Indigenous communities.
This includes undertaking a full audit of all government programs and expenditure in Indigenous affairs to identify failed and/or unnecessary funding that can be reprioritised towards frontline solutions to deliver real improvements for Indigenous Australians.
The Coalition has indicated it will focus on practical action to assist Indigenous communities and target and address social disadvantage and neglect. This includes undertaking a full audit of all government programs and expenditure in Indigenous affairs to ensure funding is directed to solutions that deliver real improvements and removed from failed or unnecessary initiatives. Even though this is a positive intention, it is yet to be seen how it will be outworked, and what would replace inefficient programs.

The Coalition supports criminal laws which prohibit the possession, cultivation and trafficking of illicit drugs. The Coalition also supports the continuation of the existing regulatory arrangements that provide for strict oversight and control of the use of medicinal cannabis in Australia.
The Coalition supports criminal laws that prohibit the possession, cultivation and trafficking of illicit drugs, and supports continuing existing regulation for strict oversight and control of the use of medicinal cannabis in Australia. They have also included ‘tackling the increasing prevalence of drugs’ as one of their key priorities for ‘Keep Australians Safe’ in their Plan for Australia. They also recently voted against a Federal Greens bill to legalise cannabis, because of the health implications, impacts on children, young people and families, crimes and customs implications, and economic and legal implications.

Given the current levels of poverty and humanitarian need around the world, and the concern regarding aid budget being used…
Australia is a generous contributor to the humanitarian needs of other countries through its Official Development Assistance programme, as it should be. The Coalition in Government prioritised more Australian aid to our region and ensured Australia was the largest aid donor in the Pacific.
The Coalition recognises the humanitarian need in Gaza is real and has provided bipartisan support for Australian aid going to trusted partners in Gaza to support Palestinian civilians. But there have been long standing international concerns about the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees’ (UNRWA) role in encouraging extremism and antisemitism, even before it was forced to sack staff involved in the 7 October 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel.
A Dutton Coalition Government will cease all Australian taxpayer funding to UNRWA and divert resources to trusted partners to deliver humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians.
A Dutton Coalition Government will ensure Australian taxpayer-funded aid supports our region and our national interest.
The Coalition has not indicated plans to increase foreign aid, however they have indicated they will ensure all humanitarian aid funding to Gaza will be diverted to trusted partners and will cease all tax payer funding to UNWRA, which has been linked to encouraging extremism and antisemitism and had staff involved in the 7 October 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel. They have indicated the pacific is a priority for aid funding.
